Question, what if you have a nickel rather than a quarter to use for screwing in the tripod. Will it give the appropriate amount of torqueage needed to properly secure my $10,000 cmaera?

The tripod is a Manfrotto with a 501 head. Its about $500 and was a great bargain for the amount of functionality you get out of the high quality fluid head and lightweight legs.

If your hand i strong enough to tighten the screw, you might even be able to secure a fullsize camera plate! Just kidding. That was an old trick that a steady cam operator had showed me a few years ago. Sometime carrying around a stubby wide nosed screwdriver just for that one screw is more of a nuisance and doesnt give you that much more of a grip on the screw.

The videos are shot on our JVC GY-HD110 u in 720p 30f HDV, then are exported in compressor to the highest resolution that itunes will take, as well as most of the other sites we post to. Youtube seems to compress video on its own, so nothing really comes out too pristine there.

you two should recreate a scene from my own private idaho

Your SA website is a great resource. I am looking to get a jib for our small college's video studio. Can you tell me the make and model of the one in your example? The cheapest thing I can find on B&H is $1600.
